As an adjunct professor of African-American Studies, I use an Afrocentric approach to help students and community members use education as a tool for advocacy and leadership while matriculating institutions of higher learning. The mission of Harambe Education, Advocacy & Leadership (HEAL) is to assist educators, staff and administrators with developing curricula and strategies that center students in education reflecting scholars' perception and value of academic success.
Our intention is to help students envisage visibility in their educational experience by inserting them as contributors to knowledge and not just consumers of information by making connections with their lived experiences while identifying, analyzing, then synthesizing information as an anomaly to antiquated academia.
We are culturally relevant educational strategists who thrive on sharing our experience and knowledge to help Alkebulan students become successful in matriculating institutions of higher learning by raising their academic esteem, centering their identity and lived experiences in education.
